10 ways to authentically boost your social networks. We all love to watch our social network numbers grow.
Find Your Focus
Figure out what social networks you want to give your attention to. Facebook, twitter, instagram, snapchat… You certainly don’t need to be a master at all of them, but to build a brand you need to have your brand name on them. Create accounts, add a profile photo, add a bio and include links to your site and pertinent networks.
High quality content
Keep with a theme and provide great content. Captivate your audience with something they will look forward to.
Engage your audience
Tell a story with your status. Comment back, give advice and don’t be afraid to ask for it. Treat your audience like your best friend. Give them little snippets of your life to engage them. Provide content that can be shared.
Follow and see who follows back
This tactic works on twitter and instagram best. Follow like minded individuals and wait a week to see if they follow back. If someone follows you back, make sure you don’t unfollow them. That is bad social media practice. If you don’t get a follow back, it is completely acceptable to stop following them after a couple of weeks. For each follow you get, make sure to stop over and perhaps follow them and like some of their stuff.
Stay consistent with your posts. Share relevant information that people would expect to get from you. If you are a crafter, you probably wouldn’t do outfit of the day posts.
Start conversations with like-minded tweeters. Engage with them and then follow them.
Use your hashtags correctly and relevantly. Keep your twitter hashtags to one or two. Instagram hashtags are more lenient and you can hashtag just about everything without “over-using” the tags. Just make sure you keep the hashtags relevant or that defeats the purpose of using a hashtag.
Have active social share buttons on your site so that your content gets shared.
Re-share relevant evergreen content
Don’t let old content go to waste. Re-share evergreen content periodically. Recipes that go with the right season can be shared yearly. Take a peek at them and update them before you share.
Whether you share daily, hourly or every-other day. Stay consistent with a timeline. Give your audience something to look forward to.
