This morning I woke up wondering how did I get here and where did the last 33 weeks go? The next few weeks will play out just as fast and furious and my life will again forever be changed. In my story the fourth times a charm. Our daughter is due to arrive in seven short weeks, something the boys and I can not wait for. Every time my husband and I brought our newborns home it would hit me that I wasn’t prepared for the unique beginnings. It’s true that all babies are so different. The two finger sucker, paci lover and a baby that was so colicky he wanted to be nursed 24/7.  I cried with the last one, because it was nothing like I had ever experienced before.

I want better beginnings for this baby once she arrives. I headed to my absolute favorite one-stop-shop for baby necessities, Target and started a baby registry to give my friends and family an idea of what I needed. You know the important baby necessities. I fell in love with Playtex Baby™ VentAire® bottles when Dominic was feistily screaming and rejecting every other bottle I had bought. I spent a ton of money during that transition trying to find a baby bottle that worked. Easing a screaming, colicky baby is hard and takes a toll on the entire family.

Feeding Time Tips For Babies

Breast Milk or Formula the Choice is yours

I get really sad when I hear people preach on which is better. Only you know what is best for your baby. I always started out breastfeeding my babies. The bonding experience and emotional moments far outweighed the tender, soreness that left my breasts with each feeding. I decided to formula feed one of my sons and it was a great decision for us at the time. With my next, I became attached to breastfeeding and exclusively breastfed him for 16 months. My third did both breast fed and formula fed and it worked perfectly for us.

Feed on Demand

Newborns eat every two to three hours, sometimes more. Don’t think of that as a timeline, because your newborn will have growth spurts and could be hungry 30 minutes after he last ate, or three hours later. You really just never know. Always preplan for the next feeding with the right supplies on hand. Babies will start sucking motions with their mouth and get antsy when hunger strikes. Those are queues to get comfy and have a calm place to feed baby ready.

Feeding is Bonding Time

Early on I realized my baby bonded most with me during feeding time. They will look into your eyes and study your face. They may also reach up for your face and touch you. It’s really indescribable how treasured those moments become.  In an effort to give other family members especially my husband those treasured moments I pumped. If you decide to breast feed or bottle feed, just remember that other family members may enjoy feeding time just as much as you do. It’s also the perfect time to hop in the shower or even brush your hair.

Have Bottles On Hand

Playtex Baby™ VentAire® are perfect for feeding time.  The angled bottle keeps bubbles at bay and stops that gassy feeling babies tend to get. These are perfect bottles for feeding time and passing the baton on pumped breast milk. VentAire baby bottles control tummy comfort and keep the air out.
