I am in a decorative state over here.  It seems that just about everything that virtually stands still is at risk of being decorated.  With the boys in full vacation mode, we thought we would get crafty this weekend and DIY some Christmas tree decor.

Our very favorite snack are Halos Mandarins and I have been peeling these things like crazy for a week.  So today instead of throwing the peel away we decided to DIY Halos Mandarin Ornaments and Garland Decorations.

Cut the top and bottom of the Halos mandarin and score the peel from top to bottom.

You can gently use your fingers to peel the skin away.

Remove the peels of 6 mandarins to get about 12-15 ornaments.  Use 12 Halos Mandarins to achieve about 5 feet of  garland.

Use small cookie cutters, pairing knife or Xacto knife to cut shapes out of the rinds.  I simply placed a flower cookie cutter on the rind and used a mallet to press the cutter in.

Let the cut outs dry on a flat surface for a few hours.  Next take twine and a needle to hang ornaments and garland.
