I love “paying it forward” and I have truly been blessed. In every way and everyday I try to live life being the best mother, daughter, sister, friend… I can be. I may not have much with a family of five (we live on a tight budget), but if there is a will there is a way my friends. My blog has afforded me so many opportunities to give back in so many ways. I can go on and on about all of the greatness I have been given, but truly this post is about a bigger project.
A few weeks ago, a call to action was made by one of my favorite blog friends Amee. Her plan, a back pack drive with a twist. Madame Deals Media teamed up with Gutzy Gear to have the ultimate back pack drive. Over 80 bloggers participated, we were given a stipend of $25 to fill a backpack(s) of school supplies and “pay it forward”.
I turned to the Elementary my son had gone to and asked the attendance clerk if it was possible to donate school supplies to a child. She was very happy to see the donation come to life and came across a family she knew was struggling to finish purchasing the supplies on their list. I’m excited that I have the opportunity to get the rest of their supplies.
Target trip cut short, little man was having a major meltdown. *Side note: I did not dress my 3 year old, we are expressing our creativity by dressing ourselves. Lucky me, I get to take my kid out in clothes that usually don’t match and are in the wrong season..*
Walmart online had a great backpack for $8.88, I am anxiously awaiting it’s arrival.
Grand total: $25.24
Out of Pocket $.24
School starts on Monday, the plan is to have the backpack by today and have the goodies at the elementary tomorrow. I have a few other donations to add from my stockpile, so watch out for the follow up post next week.

Great shopping!
Love it!! And I love the meltdown picture. Too cute!
That family is really going to appreciate that help.
Great idea, and cute pic of your son…
Great job Michelle and that back pack looks super cute. We did a backpack type of fundraiser too, different though. We had 40 girls, tell them next year we can combine forces! http://bgca.convio.net/site/TR?pg=fund&fr_id=1060&pxfid=2430
