I’m taking Back My Morning! I have spent the last four years raising babies. My mornings have consisted of sleeping anywhere from 5-6 hours a night.

My youngest is always the first to wake me with his begging for a cup of milk. I usually walk like a zombie at 5 am and then he’s off to sleep for hopefully another hour. I then rush around the house getting us situated for the day. The stress of my mornings wears me out before my day even gets half way through. I am ready to take back my mornings and start my days off right.
I headed to Walmart to prepare for our new week. Shopping for a few staple items, garden supplies and a special morning treat for myself. I love croissants and decided to reward myself with me time in my garden. We have had beautiful mornings getting in the 70’s. With Seattle’s Best on rollback, I was lucky enough to find a bag of Medium dark & rich Seattle’s Best Coffee.
My tips for taking back my Mornings.
Get on a schedule
kids bathed and fed by 8pm. This stops all the commotion and play time is over. They are allowed to read books, watch a show or help me get prepared for the following day. But I refuse to give in to play time.
In the meantime I can straighten up, clean the kitchen, get clothes washed, dried and prepare for the next day.
- Set clothes out for myself and boys.
- Have our homeschool lessons ready to go.
- Have our meal plan for the following day set.
- Have a to do list for the following day set, so we aren’t rushing around trying to figure out what needs to be done.
As soon as I put the kids to bed, I spend no more than an hour up. Usually my husband and I watch one of our favorite DVR’ed shows, then to bed I go. I hate regretting my late nights the next day. I am making it a point to get in 8 hours of sleep.
A 5 am wake-up call for milk turns into an hour of me time. My little guy goes right back to sleep and then off to make myself a cup Seattle’s Best Coffee, a croissant and enjoy an hour to sit in my garden with my iPad. This has become my favorite part of my day.
