Apparently I am not good at goodbye’s, because I totally bounced on you guys. I returned back to reality today. My husband and I just got back from Vegas. It’s been an entire 6 years since we have vacationed (alone). Gasp, I know. Let’s blame the children for that one! It’s been 8 years since I had been to sin city. Honestly though, I have had no desire to leave my sweetie pies for more than a few hours. And my husband had the mutual thoughts, missing opportunities to vacation. Our youngest is almost three and we got the itch a few months ago. The cards fell into place for us and whoa Christmas came, went, and it was time to board a plane and head to Las Vegas for the weekend and most importantly a UFC fight.
My husband is a HUGE UFC fan, I’m a random one. He can tell you everything you could possibly need or want to know about every fighter around. For me, I have a handful of favorites, I watch The Ultimate Fighter and am a huge Ronda Rousey fan. This fight was a treat for me and my husband and it did not disappoint. We witnessed the break seen around the world, watched my girl scrap it out, and armbar Misha Tate (priceless).
As if the trip wasn’t freaking awesome enough, we ran into Ronda Rousey Sunday morning by chance. She was kind enough to let me get a photo with her. I’ve decided my 2014 year has been made!
I discovered quite a few things about doing Las Vegas as a 30-something.
I’m thirty-three, yeah… yeah…. I have embraced the fact that I am not a youngster anymore. But nor do I feel in the least bit old. I think thirty-three has been very kind to me.
Vegas isn’t what I remember. There are still the flashing lights, lots of opportunities to blow money, and LYCRA… a crap load of lycra. I’m not above any of those guilty pleasures of Vegas, in fact I look forward to them. I even packed my own lycra. When in Vegas, right?! But, Vegas for me totally changed my perspective.
Maybe it’s all of the responsibilities I have, that I didn’t have in my twenties, and the fact that I am not in my twenties.
My husband and I ended up doing a ton of people watching.
A few take aways from Vegas:
I’d rather people watch and hit a hot spot for dinner, Vegas Clubs are sooo not my scene – anymore.
Gambling is cool, but the shopping is way more fun.
Stylish but comfortable is a must! It’s all about the right pair of shoes.
Oh Vegas, you where kind. I had fun, lots and lots of fun. There is no place I’d rather be right now than in Texas. Three days in Las Vegas is more than enough for me.
Until next time…
