Getting Rid of the Bad! Wake up and Pray

Getting rid of the bad, Wake up and Pray.  Yes, it’s that easy.

Happy Friday y’all

I have neglected to fill anyone in on my personal life.  It’s been about two weeks of migraines and stress.  To spare you the details, I am going to be just fine.

I have been in a major funk the past week.  Life handed me lemons and instead of making lemonade, I cried about it, yelled at the kids and just plain sucked as a mom, wife and friend.  I woke up this morning and prayed.  I will be honest I am not majorly religious.  But the first thing I did before I got out of bed was wake up and pray for strength and peace.  I trust that the obstacles that I come across are for good reason and I will tackle them grace and strength.


And you know what?  I felt a sense of calm and peace at that very moment that I prayed.  I will not allow myself to be affected by the opportunity to be a better person.


Take that life filled with drama.  I put my big girl pants on, made breakfast for the family, took the boys to see EPIC {review on that movie coming very soon} and things are looking up.

Here’s to new beginnings and having the strength to let go of the bad and focus on the good.  I will resume my shenanigans now and refocus.  I hope you all have a fantastic and safe Memorial Weekend.

  1. I’m not very religious either. But I’d like to think of myself as spiritual. I pray too. It brings me hope and comfort, the fact that God is listening. He may have a different plan than I do and I have to accept that. But it helps to put myself into His hands.

  2. Glad you feel better! I am not religious either but I do recognize that there is something bigger than me out there…and sometimes, when I need clarity and peace, I “pray”. It does a world of good. 🙂

  3. I have found that prayer helps to ground me as well as the boys. We’ve been out of our routine for a while, but I can see that NOT starting the school day with prayer really sets us up for more problems. It’s SO worth the few minutes up front.

  4. I’m so glad that your heart led you to prayer. God hears us in those moments and grants us the peace and strength we need. Sometimes I find myself just praying out loud throughout the day….. it becomes such a habit. A good one. I’ll say a prayer for you, too, hoping that things start looking up for you.

  5. I try to explain to my almost 10 year old son that prayer does not have to be abot anything religious, it is just about talking to your own inner spirit, a higher power, anything. Just do it.
