Zoo Lights Offers A Safe Family Holiday Tradition
The holiday season may feel a little different this year, but there are still plenty of ways to make memories with your family. Growing up I loved those random evenings when my dad would take the long way home to catch a glimpse of Christmas lights throughout San Antonio neighborhoods. For the past few years, we’ve made it a family tradition to take a trip to the San Antonio Zoo for Zoo Lights. Whataburger Zoo Lights is a transformation like no other. Stroll through the Christmas lights twinkling as far as the eye can see with your family this holiday season.
The escape from the confines of quarantine is just what my family needed. The life-sized 15-foot illuminated giraffe and other animals in the Starry Safari were a huge hit with us.
It’s an entirely different experience at the Zoo when the sun goes down. The Lakeside Light Show is an energetic show that features pixel technology and Christmas tunes along with Latin inspired songs!

As a non-profit the San Antonio Zoo holds a very special place in my heart, I follow their conservation efforts on social media and actively look for ways I can support their efforts to protect the future of the animals.
Roast s’mores, enjoy hot cocoa, and even decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus.
Checkout the plexi glass so you can still capture that photo with Santa.
The $5 pick a prize tent was one of the highlights for my kids. The joy of getting your first present is always exciting.
San Antonio Zoo Lights is included with your general admission ticket. If you don’t have a season pass, which I encourage you to get because it includes lots of events that take place throughout the year like Zoo Boo, Día De Candy, Summer Zoo exhibits.

So fun! I just love looking at Christmas lights. Our zoo does zoo lights as well. I might have to check them out.
Looks like a great place to visit with kids x
Well, that looks like a fun place to visit. I love the decorations, it is so cute. I bet my family would like to check this out.
That looks like such a fun exhibit! So cool that they’re able to do something that’s COVID-safe to help the holidays feel more festive!
We live here in SA but haven’t went to the zoo for the lights yet. Jacksonville FLA zoo does this too and it’s so pretty
Thank you for sharing this! Such a beautiful place to visit during the holidays, esp for the kiddos!
It’s really good to see that they are trying to make this family festive experience as safe as possible
