The Magik Theatres production of Junie B. Jones: The Musical has taken stage captivating hearts this summer. The riveting show follows Junie on her adventurous year as a first grader. The musical is an adaptation by Mary Heisler of the best-selling Junie B. Jones books by Barbara Parks. We had the opportunity to see the performance last week and within minutes fell in love with the entire cast. There is nothing perfect about Junie B. and that’s okay. She quickly finds that friendships will change as fast as her ability to read the chalkboard. The live 1-hour show is charming and laugh-out-loud funny, we didn’t want it to end.
My eight year old fell in love with Junie B. Jones books at the end of his year in kindergarten. The books quickly became the highlight of our nights, sweeping us into the world of Junie B. I knew this Magik Theatre adaptation would be the perfect performance to introduce my kids into the world of theatre. They are already anticipating their return to see more Magik Theatre productions and collecting future Playbills.
Catch Junie B. Jones at The Charline McCombs Empire Theatre through June 25, 2017. The remainder of the shows will move to The Magic Theatre through August 13, 2017.
