BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner Review

Update I originally received this BISSELL Pet Carpet Cleaner January 2016 to review. I have been using my Bissell ProHeat for 4 years now and it is by far my favorite carpet cleaner to date. This post has been updated to include more details on my experience with this carpet cleaner.

I didn’t realize how dirty our 6-month-old living room carpet had gotten until we moved everything out of the room in preparation for new furniture. When the room sat bare I was left with stains that I had spot cleaned but unfortunately, the stains never came completely out and resurfaced as time went on. The daily traffic left the main walkway to our kitchen dingy looking.

After removing most of the furniture, I vacuumed the room completely.

I used the BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner with the Deep Clean + Antibacterial 2 in 1 Formula along with hot tap water in the reservoir of the BISSELL cleaner.

*Tip: if you are spot cleaning, don’t fill up the entire tank. Cooler water doesn’t clean as well as the hot tap water does. To keep from wasting water, only fill what you think you will use. One full tank and another half cleaned this entire room.

Starting in one corner of the room, I worked in small areas. first releasing the formula in sections and then going back over the area multiple times to pull out the stain and pick up the dirt and grime. When you are not pushing the button on the handle, the system will suction up the formula scrubbing the carpet with each stroke.  You can visually see the dirty liquid being pulled from the carpet into the second tank each time you go over a section. I concentrated on the small sections continuing until the liquid pulled up was clear and then continued to suction until there was little to no liquid being pulled in. If you see a lot of liquid being pulled out you will want to keep going over that section.

Tip* Leaving large amounts of liquid will prolong drying time. 

It took me about 40 minutes to finish this room. Some areas I needed to spend more time as others I only needed to go over 2-3 times quickly.

After deep cleaning

I did the entire room at night and the next morning (9 hours later) it was completely dry. I vacuumed the room again. Although a lot of the stains were removed, I could still see a dingy tone to the high traffic areas.

After 2nd round of deep carpet cleaning

I decided to do another round and add the BISSELL Oxyboost Carpet Cleaning Formula and along with hot tap water in the reservoir of the BISSELL cleaner. I concentrated on the high traffic spots only and am very satisfied with the outcome. The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner completely turned my dirty carpet into a fresh and new looking carpet. The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner is lightweight and allows me to easily clean small spots as well as my entire home.

I have a rottweiler that sheds a ton of hair. I vacuum every other day, if not daily and sweep multiple times a day. The BISSELL ProHeat 2X Revolution Pet Carpet Cleaner pulled so much hair that my vacuum didn’t get. I had to stop and pick up gobs of hair throughout the cleaning that would pile together as a result of the Carpet Cleaner brush gathering it. I’ll spare you the photos of wet dog hair. I kept a plastic grocery bag on my arm and would pick up these small piles of hair throughout the cleaning process. It was very satisfying to see that I was removing so much embedded dog hair, that we couldn’t even see in the carpet. The amount of dirty water that was pulled from the carpet was incredible. It was proof of how dirty my carpet was.

The BISSELL Antibacterial formula leaves a fresh and clean scent, removing orders I didn’t realize we had. I was spending so much money masking the smell with air fresheners and carpet powder, but not getting to the root of the problem which was deep cleaning the carpet area.

I now have wood floors and lots of area rugs throughout my home. The best way to clean my area rugs is to take them outdoors onto the patio and use my BISSELL carpet cleaner on them. This protects my wood floors and the fresh air helps dry the area rugs faster. I clean my area rugs monthly outdoors using the revolution pet carpet cleaner.
