Friday afternoon the kids and I decided to call school quits early. The 75° weather was calling our name and we needed to get out of the house. I am also a little bit cliché and like to start off our weekends with pizza. Pizza Friday is an old tradition for us. This past Friday meant a trip to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch.

This guy sure knows how to keep us entertained. I think he was imitating a wolf howl.
CPK has a great menu of appetizers, soups, salads, pastas, tacos, sandwiches and of course pizza. Glutten free pizzas too. I was tempted to go with a lite menu item, the Shrimp Scampi Zucchini Fettuccine sounded delicious.
My boys convinced me that when at a Pizza Kitchen, order pizza.
We went with the cremini mushroom, rustic pepperoni & spicy Italian sausage hand tossed pizza.
And a roasted garlic parmesan sauce hand tossed pizza. Our server obliged to our request for a not on the menu roasted garlic parmesan sauce pizza, this one was made to order.
CPK pizzas are an artwork of freshly tossed dough, a perfect amount of pizza sauce, and a plethora of delectable toppings. I am obsessed with the thin pepperoni slices that are crisped on the edges. This hearth baked pizzas get 5 stars in our book, perfectly brick oven fired. If you have a pizza topping request, just ask your server. Our CPK chef loved a new challenge. And FYI the roasted garlic parmesan sauce topped pizza was delicious and my cheese lovers dream pizza.
We had to end our trip to CPK with a dessert. We went with the Belgian chocolate soufflé cake. This served warm cake has a triple-thick hot fudge, and vanilla bean sauce. You can also opt for a scoop of Häagen-Dazs. It’s a delicious end to a great Friday lunch.
