I don’t know what I would do without my smartphone. It serves as my life line to everything, and I do mean everything. I have made quite a few purchases using my smartphone just this week alone. Last minute movie tickets and a Christmas gift we thought was out of stock until January. I also do things like log into my bank account, use social media and search for nearby hot spots. While doing all of these activities on my phone almost daily, I have never once given thought to mobile phone security. Seriously it has never dawned on me that I could potentially be a victim of an internet identity theft whilst on the go. Gasp I know… but really when you are in the midst of on the fly web browsing do you stop and think there is a threat? Yesterday I spent sometime learning about Norton Mobile Security at the Norton Truck Tour at La Cantera Mall and boy was that an eye opening experience. I have been very lucky that my wifi security has not been affected (that I know of). A lot of people haven’t been so lucky.
Mobile devices and retail apps have made it easier than ever to shop and gift on the go. In fact, 58 percent of U.S. consumers used smartphones and 42 percent used tablets to shop during Cyber Monday 2012 (IBM).
The Norton Truck Tour opened my eyes to how dangerous my mobile actions are. I had given security and privacy no thought whatsoever. With Norton software you can give your mobile internet the protection you need against viruses, such as phone location and information backup. If you own a smartphone this is a necessity.
More than 1/3 of smartphone users have experienced mobile cybercrime (2013 Norton Report)
To save ourselves from any threats we should also only shop from secure sites whether we are on a smartphone, tablet or home computer. Always remember to look for HTTPS in your browser address bar before entering personal information or credit card information.
Stop by the Norton Truck tour and hop in for a scavenger hunt.
Then take all of your gifts along and take advantage of the DIY gift wrapping station.
Cap off your Norton experience with a holiday picture at the Norton Photo booth.
Norton Mobile Security is available for download on iTunes, Google Play and other official app marketplaces, be protected no matter where you shop, surf or share. Make sure you have Norton Hotspot Privacy.
