I told you the next few weeks were going to be dedicated to turning 2013 into a fabulous year.  From figuring out how to wisely spend your money on the things you need to being able to afford the things we want.  Today we are diving into vehicle insurance.  I will let you in on a secret, although I have been a car owner for 16 years I never truly understood what my car insurance could do for me in the case I was in an accident.

What’s the skinny on car insurance?

We all need it, but do you really know what the best coverage is for you as a vehicle owner?  We’ve rounded out all of the most important things to consider when deciding on your vehicle’s insurance policy.

Which car insurance do you need?  we picked up the facts on the 5 most purchased insurances for vehicle drivers.

  • Liability coverage includes property damage and injury to others incurred by your vehicle.
  • Collision Coverage includes damage done to your vehicle by you.
  • Comprehensive Coverage Includes theft, weather, something done to your vehicle as a result not caused by a collision.
  • Medical Coverage for your medical expenses incurred in an accident.
  • Uninsured Motorist Coverage protects you if you are hit by a driver who does not have any coverage.

There are obviously more insurance options to choose from.  The above noted are the basic most used options by the average driver.  Prepare yourself and decide which coverage to have.   A few key factors to consider.  The amount of time you spend behind the wheel.  If you rarely drive or use other means of transportation you may not be so concerned with dishing out on a huge coverage plan.  Consider the deductible, a higher deductible will give you a lower payment.  Just make sure the amount under your deductible is something you could afford should you get into an accident.  Consider your cargo, if you are always traveling with others (like your family)make sure that you are also protecting them.  A responsible driver protects everyone especially those who are traveling in your vehicle.   Also consider the vehicle you are driving will change the cost of your insurance a new luxury vehicle will be more than a 10 yr old vehicle.
