Halloween Party Planning Tips

There are officially 36 days until Halloween.  It’s time to start planning a Halloween Bash.  The month of October is a great time to get all your favorite people together, and party.   Throw a killer blowout everyone will remember.

Set the Date

Pick a date now.  Once you set the date, start spreading the word verbally.  Let your friends and family know that you are planning a party and invites will be coming soon.

Invite

Whether you choose to send email invites or mail them, make sure invites are sent (3) weeks prior to the Party Date.  Don’t forget to include any requests.  For instance “Bring your favorite Adult Beverage” or “Bring your Favorite Dessert”. If you include an RSVP and haven’t heard back wait until the week of your party to follow up.  Keep a list of your guests that RSVP’d.

Decor

The great thing about Halloween is you really don’t need a “theme”.  You can easily mix and match Halloween decor to suit your party and tastes.  Less is always more.

Food

Halloween party food is best served as finger foods.  Halloween is a great time to serve up pigs in a blanket, pizza, sandwiches all of those easy peasy quick snack foods we all love.  Pretzels, chips, dips and plenty of drinks.  If you asked guests to bring their favorite adult beverage account for kid friendly drinks.

Photo Booth

Set up a photo booth. Invest in a Polaroid style camera.  I also have a small chalk  board handy for my guests to write on and hold in their picture  for Instance “Halloween 2012”, “The Hulk”, etc.

Games

Add a few games to get the fun started.  Bring out old faves like bobbing for apples, wrap the mummy and

Costume Contest

Cap the night with a Costume Contest.  Reserve $30+ dollars and purchase gift cards to a fast food restaurant in different amounts.  If kids are attending the party have 2-3 winners each gets a $5 gift card.  Never do a 1st place with the kids, that way none are singled out.  For the adults have a 1st and 2nd place, with first place getting a little more.  Keep the “prizes” a secret until the end as an added bonus that no one is expecting.

When purchasing all of your necessities make sure you are searching for the best prices.  Search coupon codes when you are getting costumes, decor and supplies online. Shop dollar stores and use coupons.  Join me next Tuesday when I share some of my favorite Halloween inspired foods.
