The Silent Enemy Diabetic Retinopathy #TransitionsLens

This is part of a sponsored campaign with Latina Mom Bloggers and Transitions Optical. I was provided with a complimentary eye exam and pair of eyeglasses to test for the purpose of this campaign. However, all opinions expressed are my own. #TransitionsLens

Diabetes is a silent enemy and over 90 percent of vision loss and blindness is caused by diabetic retinopathy, a serious condition. An eye doctor can identify the first signs of diabetic retinopathy during an eye exam. When is the last time you had your eyes checked? With November being Diabetes Awareness Month and November 14th World Diabetes Day, more light is being shad on this disease.

The importance of healthy sight is usually taken for granted. An annual vision screening is usually offered for free by most all health coverage. I encourage you to take advantage of it and get a vision screening. Vision problems can affect anyone, but as an ethnic minorities we are at greater risk for some eye and general-health issues. Latino Visual Health Resources provides more facts on how vision affects us.  Even children should be getting a yearly vision check. Learn more about kids eye health at Eye Didn’t Know That kids website.
