Review of the Dockatot Grand for babies

The DockATot Grand review post is in collaboration with DockATot. All thoughts expressed are my own and may not reflect the ideas of the brand or others.

It’s always a hot topic for me to talk about co-sleeping. It seems to spark up a lot of conversation and sometimes uncomfortable debate. Luckily my husband and I have always been on the same page when it comes to putting our baby to sleep. At the end of the day we want her to be safe and we want as many minutes of uninterrupted sleep as we can get.

The DocATot Grand Review

We started out just like every other well-meaning parent. We bought the crib, set up the co-sleeper, had a quiet spot for the bassinet planned out. The first few months while a blur proved to be easier said than done. Our daughter loved to be swaddled, but it didn’t take long for her to realize that her favorite place to be was in arms. She loves the closeness of a warm body (any warm body) and slept amazing when we held her. If we put her down, those deep sleeps would turn into short cat naps. I struggled to get anything done with a baby attached to me. As fate would have it we found ourselves co-sleeping and contorting our bodies into uncomfortable positions in order to accommodate for her space. She just slept soo much better when we co-slept and slept horribly anywhere else. She would wake up anywhere from 20-45 minutes when we put her down at night. Co-sleeping was the answer, but brought on a slew of new issues.

I go to sleep with my arm curled around her forming a barrier between her and my husband.  I literally don’t move, at all. I often wondered how long my body could take this torture. My husband hangs off the edge of our king size bed for fear of getting too close to her. I found a solution to our situation. This is a DockATot Grand Review and how the DockATot introduced an entirely new world to us. It quickly became one of those products that my husband agreed we should have gotten a long time ago.

Getting our DockAtot Grand box The DockATot Grand Review

Opening the DockATot Grand and getting it out of the package, I was skeptical of how magical it could possibly be. My daughter sleeps very light and hasn’t gone longer than 4 hours straight even right next to me at night. She is a dream feeder and loves to nurse for comfort most of the night.

I plopped the DockATot in the middle of our bed the first day it arrived. We did our normal night routine, but this time after her night feeding and drifting off to sleep, I transitioned her into the DockATot. The first night my back was thanking me. My arms didn’t have to mold around her little body and my husband actually had his entire body on the bed. We both felt so much safer moving getting comfortable in bed while she was in the DockATot. The sides are high enough that they felt like rails and kept her tucked in the center. For her, it provided a sense of comfort and she was snuggled in. For us, we felt safer having her in the DockATot instead of sleeping freely in our bed. She slept for 5 straight hours that first night. When she started to wake it’s more of a “where is moms boob” situation. She just wanted to nurse, I was able to slip her the pacifier and we both slept almost another 45 minutes. When she woke up again I fed her and was able to transition her back into the DockATot for another 2 hours of sleep. We are now up to 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night, longer naps during the day and an all-around happier sleeping experience for all of us.

The DockATot Grand measures 24 inches wide x 39-47 inches long [39 inches with clasps closed and 47 inches with clasps open]. The perfect size for a growing baby.

The DockATot grand has solved so many problems for us and in return we are all sleeping better.

Our daughter would sweat at night, most likely because of our body heat. The DockATots hypoallergenic built-in, air-permeable sides keep her more comfortable and not sweating.  Moving the DockATot from our bed to another safe spot is seamless. She feels secure and it seems to mimic the closeness of being held or in the womb. We consider the DockATot Grand a safe place for her to not only sleep, but to play. During the day I move it to the floor where she enjoys a comfy play area.

A great place to have her mid-day nap and curl up with her favorite doll.

DockATot Grand Review

The DockATot Grand is the stage 2 dock for babies age 9 – 36 months or 22-40lbs. The Grand is the bigger version of the DockATot Delux+ which we also love and my little darling can still use. We decided to size up, to allow for a transition to her own space. The DockATot is perfect for cuddling, playing, lounging, resting and everything in between.

The materials used are all natural, breathable, washable, OEKO-TEX certified and hypoallergenic. All filling materials are sourced from world-leading suppliers and offer hygienic and non-toxic properties. Designed with love in Sweden and made in Europe.

Their is a bit of a price tag for the DockATot at $185 – $290 price points it was hard for me to justify the price before we actually used one for ourselves. After using the DockATot and discovering all of the benefits the ensued my husband and I both rave about it. We would definitely suggest not getting the Grand until your baby absolutely outgrows the Deluxe+. The Deluxe+ will keep them in more of a pod/womb feeling. If baby loves being swaddled they will most likely feel safe and secure in the DockATot Deluxe+. It fits better for co-sleeping and won’t take up as much room as the Grand will. The Grand is perfect for that transition to a bigger, but safer space. The DockATot is a multi-functional lounger, co-sleeper and playtime lounger.

The Deluxe is perfect for 0-8 Months or about 22 lbs. so you can definitely use it longer than the 8 month mark if baby fits. I have friends who have a 15 month old that still fits comfortably in the Deluxe. The Grand is perfect for babies as young as 9 months and perfect until about 36 months and great for toddler bed transitions.
