Southern Tablescape

Love is in the air, everywhere I go I am reminded that the month of love is nearing.  I have been inspired to bring a little romantic whimsy into my life by Moll Anderson’s new book, Seductive Tables For Two: Tablescapes, Picnics, and Recipes That Inspire Romance.

I found Moll Anderson’s book on Amazon for $11.30.  If you enjoy decorating or need inspiration, this book is perfect for setting up a romantic ambiance for your favorite person.  The book is filled with tidbits to pull together a romantic tablescape from choosing the right colors, to using a everyday pieces around your home.  Beautifully designed, I was in awe of the romantic designs and scrumptious recipes to match.

Moll’s book inspired me to connect with my husband at the table.  Her reminder that slaving over a kitchen is not what it’s about.  The goal is to create a romantic space where the two of us can have one on one face time.  Whether over a cup of coffee or an intimate dinner, it’s all about quality time together.

Seductive Tables for 2

Living in the middle of nowhere has it’s perks. I have always wanted to pull out a piece of furniture for an outdoor setting.   I’ve been told our property is majestic, so it was about time we enjoyed it. I went through my linen closet and found a few fabric pieces that went perfectly with my favorite yellow dishes. Moll suggests not sticking to tablecloths but having fun with fabrics, scarves or your favorite blanket to set the tone of your table. I love the mellow, soft look of gray and yellow and opted to keep my dash of southern style with a light and inviting look.   I dug out our old pub table from the garage and set it under my favorite tree.

A romantic tablescape

On the menu wheat spaghetti with homemade meatballs and buttery french bread.  A fun break from the usual dinner at our dining table with three kids.

I topped the meal off with bourbon sweet tea {sans ice} to soothe our scratchy throats.

This was a dinner to remember, I completely stunned my husband with a change of scenery and an impromptu date night.  It took me no more than a few extra minutes to whip together and it was nice to get the kids fed and to bed earlier than usual for an unexpected date night.  I am completely obsessed with finding pieces to make a romantic tablescape perfect for Valentine’s.
