We did it. We put our coffee shop money towards the purchase of a new espresso machine. I’ve made about 5 versions of the vanilla iced latte for my family and we have unanimously loved the version I’m sharing here.
My husband has been talking about getting an espresso machine for months, he lives for his coffee in the morning. After reading endless reviews, we settled on this De’Longhi espresso machine. Even with the simple dial, I was incredibly intimidated by the machine once it arrived. I’ve probably never made “good coffee” so an espresso machine pretty much terrifies me. We had and loved our Keurig, but wasted so much on pods that we went back to the good old Mr. Coffee carafe that I bought at Walmart for $20 and folgers coffee. Then over the years we found ourselves constantly hitting up coffee shops for fancy drinks. The breakdown of money I’ve spent on coffee shop drinks was embarrassing. So a small investment was in order and I’m determined to add some delicious drinks to my personal menu.

Espresso glasses are a must and I love the clear insulated thermo mugs we purchased. We also had to get a steaming pitcher. If you put your mug upside down on the top tray of the De’Longhi it will warm it up.

Ingredients
1 or 2 shots of espresso
6-8 ounces of milk
ice cubes
1 ounce vanilla sweetener
* whipped topping (garnish)
I’m currently using these Jordan’s Skinny Mixes syrups and the verdict is still out on if there is anything better. I personally like them, but the reviews are mixed. A few people say they can taste the “aspartame flavor”. I don’t have other brands to compare to, so for now I’m sticking with these. I’ll update if I come across other brands I enjoy.

It’s very easy to put together. I take a tall glass add pumps of vanilla syrup (1 ounce) and the milk. Stir those two together. Add ice cubes and fill just above milk. Take your espresso (1 or 2 shots) and slowly pour on top of the ice cubes and milk. You can add whipped topping if you’d like and a straw. Enjoy your vanilla iced latte.
