How to Create Margins in Canva for Amazon KDP

✅ Step-by-Step:

1. Turn on Rulers and Guides

  • Open your Canva design.

  • Go to the top menu and click on:

    • File → ✅ Show rulers

    • File → ✅ Show guides

  • This will help you position elements with precision.

2. Manually Add Margin Guides

Margins for Amazon KDP are typically:

  • 0.25″ on all sides

  • 0.375″ – 0.5″ for the inner (binding) edge if you’re doing double-sided printing

To create these in Canva:

  1. Drag guides from the rulers to mark your margins.

    • Click and drag from the top ruler to create horizontal guides.

    • Click and drag from the side ruler to create vertical guides.

  2. Set them at:

    • 0.25″ from each edge (or 0.5″ from the inside edge for binding)

💡 If you want precise spacing, you can:

  • Create a rectangle shape that’s the size of your page minus the margin space, center it, then lock it in place. This gives you a clear area to stay inside.

📐 Example for 8.5″ x 11″ Page:

  • Safe printable area would be: 8″ x 10.5″

  • Create a rectangle with those dimensions and center it in your design.

  • Lock it (click 🔒) so it doesn’t move, and keep all your content inside it!

🟡 Bonus Tip:
