Summer is rapidly coming to a close and the fresh start of a new school year is fast approaching. Here are ten tips for a productive school year with a healthy fresh start.
10 Back to school Tips for a productive school year.

Schedule an eye exam.
A great time to get your child’s eye’s checked is right before the school year.
Have a health checkup.
As our children get older we tend to skip on-time yearly health checkups. Incorporate well checkups during the summer and address minor concerns. Remember those pesky headaches, allergy issues, and growing pains.
Visit the dentist.
Get their teeth cleaned, address brushing issues and track growth. Getting a six month visit out of the way will help unneeded missed days of school.
Adopt a healthy meal plan.
Summer is a great time to experiment with easy, new lunch ideas. Get creative in the kitchen with healthy bento box lunches. This is a great task to complete with your child for lunchbox wins.
Plan healthy snack options.
After school snacks that don’t include junk food are important. Think brain food! Yogurt cups, pre-made turkey wraps, fresh fruit or a mix of nuts, popcorn and m&m’s are great options.
Make a homework only zone.
Stay organized for a healthy way of living. Get your child pumped for an after school routine with an essential homework zone. A desk organizer and quiet space to focus on homework.
Freshen up the chore chart.
Start a new chore chart that encourages organization. A healthy lifestyle includes living in a clean environment stress free environment. Revise a list of things to get done now that school is back in session. This is a great time to start a new routine.
Give an allowance.
Add an incentive based allowance to the routine. An allowance teaches work ethic. Offer incentives for diligent homework completion, getting the trash on the curb before school, giving the dog a bath.
Plan out weekly outfits.
Skip the dreaded “I have nothing to wear” or even worse a morning scavenger hunt to find their favorite hoody. Sundays is a great day to plan out 5 outfits in a clothes organizer. Get them hung and ready to wear for the week.
Reconnect and clear your mind.
Take a 15 minute walk before or after dinner, or a quick swim to your daily routine. A moment to reconnect or just clear your minds together without having any real distractions keeps everyone active and healthy.
Implement these ten tips now and prepare for the most successful school year yet.
