I made the decision a couple of months ago to have my home professionally cleaned twice a month. The initial idea of cleaning my home was literally a call for help. I was waiving the white flag so to speak because the pressures of 2020 were becoming all too much for me. The last thing I wanted to do was deep clean my home. The week leading up to the first clean put me in a tailspin of trying to figure out how to manage our home. Even though we had spent the better part of quarantine purging closets and doing home projects, we were fully working from home now, our college kid was back for the foreseeable future, and we signed up the boys for a new school program that would be done at home 3 days a week. There were bins in my office stacked with college dorm stuff, our kitchen table was covered in my 4th-graders new school curriculum, our living room doubles as a playroom, and our guest bedroom is now my workspace for my new business. Our home didn’t look like a home, but a multi-functional space of random unfinished projects and it had become a mess of things.
You can read more about the first experience I had having my home professionally cleaned by the MaidPro team. Now that we are closing out the second month of having our home professionally cleaned, I have been working out ways to have the upkeep streamlined.

How I manage to keep my home clean in-between MaidPro cleanings.
I’ve learned a lot about managing a professionally cleaned home and organizing our home so that we can successfully spot clean in-between my MaidPro cleanings.
Everyday to-do list
- Make beds before we leave home.
- Put all dishes in the dishwasher or hand wash after meals.
- Spend 15 minutes each evening straightening up. Get the entire family involved.
- Clean kitchen and living areas nightly. Counter tops wiped down, sink wiped down, coffee table wiped down, all blankets folded and in basket.
- Put all dirty laundry in laundry room. No more hampers in bedrooms or bathrooms, I have everyone sort their dirty laundry in this hamper system.
-
- Vacuum daily, I invested in this inexpensive robotic vacuum and it goes from wood, tile, to carpet, seamlessly. I do zero vacuuming other than turning this thing on.
Every few days
- Wipe down mirror and sink in bathrooms.
- Clear all trash bins.
- Pick one day of the week to tackle a cleaning project. Even just one project each week: clean all air vents, deep clean windows, kitchen cabinet toe kicks, baseboards, is a great way to curb the feeling that your home isn’t clean.
Items to keep my home more organized
- We keep this storage bench. No more shoes scattered in front of the entryway or tossed around my kids rooms.
- These entryway hooks are on my walls behind the front and back doors. Great for keeping backpacks and jackets tidy.
- The catchall tray is a great place for my family to empty their pockets. Since having it in our kitchen counter we have stopped misplacing keys and other small important items. It’s also where we put our mail, so I am forced to clear it out as soon as I am home.
I have come to fully depend on the MaidPro cleanings to keep my home looking and feeling clean. With just two cleanings a week by professionals I am now able to take a bulk of the heavy cleaning off my list. I have made more time for more imortant matters and can take these important chores off of my list. If you are looking for a reliable service the MaidPro team is an amazing asset.
