We are fresh off of our family vacation in New Braunfels, Texas. The fall weather in the Texas Hill Country this time of year is not something to sleep on. I have been craving a break from the constant stresses of life. I honestly think everyone needs some sort of reset. With the idea of how to safely leave home during a pandemic, I carefully tiptoed through this vacation. We stayed at the Comal River Cottages, these cozy cottages are nestled right on the Comal River just blocks from the bustle of downtown. The cottage offered us enough space to perfectly host our family of 6. With two bedrooms, a living area (with a pull out sleeper), two full baths, a full kitchen, and a washer and dryer, we had everything we needed to enjoy a full weekend socially distancing when we needed and still being right in the heart of New Braunfels.
The back porch of the Comal River Cottages sits right below the famous river tube chute and right across from the iconic Landa Park. The large riverfront courtyard is perfect for guests to play and enjoy the outdoors. The huge patios and bbq pits offer an exciting outdoor experience. Imagine waking up to the riverfront property and enjoying the crystal clear calm waters. We spent our afternoon’s people watching, dipping our toes in the water and enjoying the scenery. Canoers, fisherman, and snorkelers explored the beautiful waters while families dipped in the water to cool off from the fall Texas heat.
The cottage is a cozy and fully accessible space that begs for days to unwind and relax. The wood floors, plantation shutters and flat screen TV’s in every room offer a warm cottage touch while feeling at home.
The full kitchen includes a Keurig coffee brewer, a spacious area for cooking meals, is the perfect way to have a home cooked meal experience right on the river. The large dining table begged for family game nights.
The beautiful guest bathroom includes a washer and dryer which is perfect for keeping swimwear and towels fresh.
If you are looking for a vacation with the family right on the river, the Comal River Cottages are perfect. An escape to New Braunfels to explore and enjoy the river is just what we needed to reset. I will be sharing more on our vacation, where we ate, played and explored while in New Braunfels.

Your kids seemed to be having such a good time and the weather so nice. I would love to vacation at a cottage like that, all the comforts you need.

I’ve always liked New Braunfels. It’s about an hour from me, so we go now and again. We love the food there, plus Buc-ees is nearby.

The washer and dryer makes a big difference for us on a vacation. We have so many kiddos in the family that washing their clothes is always needed on a trip!
